Great Blogging News

On the blogging front, which has - I admit - been woefully inactive recently, I have great news to proclaim:

1.) You can now subscribe to my blog by e-mail! Just put your e-mail address into that little box in the sidebar, do what the nice computer tells you to do, and you'll find an e-mail in your inbox each and every time I post.

Which I promise will be ever so much more often now that I know all of you are reading. The more people sign up the more I will post. It's like a fundraiser for school! The more people buy chocolate bars, the more soccer balls we'll buy. I promise I'll write one post for each person who signs up. . .

2.) Kimberly Glick is probably the coolest person I have ever met. You all should read her blog, too. (Absolutely Perhaps) Also, she's really good at technical things like getting subscription by e-mail set up.

3.) You can also now post comments to my blog.

4.) If you don't read my blog, sign up, and post comments, Jonathan the meanest swordsman-in-an-apron around will come and totally kiss your ass.

4.) I am going to post my photos on this blog now. Because I am a photographer.

5.) I know 8 languages. I just didn't want all of you to know because you're the jealous type.

6.) Um. I count really well. That's why there are two number 4's on this list.

Music & Lyrics

Well the first blog was painless and it took almost no time. it sort of left me wanting to write more so here's number 2.
Currently playing: Mix Cd Lindsy gave me. latin, rock, folk, old new, and everything in between
Music...aahhh I have more music than most people I know. I'm a fan, like a true fan! Also, I have the widest range of musical taste of anyone I know, is that a good thing? I love and own the cheesiest music you could imagine and love and own the hardest, heaviest, nastiest stuff you've probably never heard. I like to think that it's an ability to truly get where the artist is trying to get at. It makes a fool out of me when I listen to a mix CD like this one. I'm like ahhh what is that? and that!? Then if the lyrics catch me I may end up backing up, googling it and checking out the lyrics with the music.***

I'm always looking for good lyrics. Most, if not all, of my favorite artist are big influences for me lyrically speaking. Some will literally get me writing something or thinking hard about it by the end of a disc almost always. These are mostly Latin artist. Most recently Jason Mraz has caught my attention lyrically. He does get a bit poppy @ times and I think it's unnecessary but I can get over it. This thing some songwriters have, they just want a band. I just wish some of them would sit with a piano or a guitar and just play the songs instead of being distracted with tall the other crap. Pretty much every single one of my favorite songwriters have done it. They all have these songs in their repertoire that are just painful to hear.

***NEW RULE!!
When you're reading lyrics, DO NOT read ahead of the song, read the lyrics as they are being sung. The idea for them should be to facilitate your understanding of what is being said as they are sung. like subtitles when you watch a Foreign movie. Most songs, I'd say, are mostly about how the idea is expressed rather than what is actually said. Allow the song to actually take you, with music & Lyrics, where it intends to, In it's own pace. It's like someone telling you everything that happens in a movie right before you watch it. You can still enjoy the movie and all but but it's always better to find out what happens as it unfolds and I think songs should be the same @ least until it gets to the "repeat chorus X8" part.

It's pretty much the only way to get the true magic of Nirvana since it's hard to make out what Kurt is saying most of the time, sometimes he actually doesn't say the word it self but rather a mumble that has the same amount of syllables and some of the same vowels. Their lyrics aren't very deep but the emotion coming through, as Kurt mumbles what he intends to be the words, really paint the picture.

El Bloggo numero uno

Alright so a few people have been telling me that I need to start blogging. So after I read some other people's blogs and wiki it (wikied it?)It sort of made sense but then again I wondered who'll read it and what am I going to write about? So I figured some people will probably read for longer than I may be willing to keep writing this with any sort of frequency so if you're one of those, then this is mainly for you.

So I guess I just write about anything I want, hehe, I can do that. So I guess I'll start with the name of the blog. "Detalles De La Nada" it's sort of a play on words and it means, like the description of the blog says, "Details Of nothing" or more specifically "Details Of The Nothing" I figured, If it is "The Nothing" then it's something right? I'll stop before I turn into a Seinfeld episode.

So as I dream about blogging, I plan to let you into some crazy thoughts and some, ummm, random thoughts, where I'll just go on and talk about stuff and see if you can keep up (or where I end up, if anywhere). If I get there you'll know what I'm talking about. I may choose to write in prose or in whatever other format I think about. Maybe I'll blog in a backward sequence like that other Seinfeld episode ;-). I may even write in Spanish or Spanglish. I do like the idea of a bunch of you reading stuff you have no clue what I'm saying...I guess I can do that and still write in English. I'm also aware that a bunch of you would, @ least, be able to know what I'm talking about if I write in Spanish..but then again, if I get into imagery and slang it won't be as easy.

And this is sort of how my blogs will go. largely unedited and probably influenced by what music I'm listening to while I write. So i guess I'll share what's been playing as well (most times). maybe I'll blog about that next, maybe.

Listening to: Estelle- I think this is her only release so far, it's called "Shine"
